If you too have been wondering where in the heck all of this smoke is coming from today.....heres the answer from New4Jax.com: " A wildfire that continues burning a nine-mile stretch of woods in Ware County is only 25 percent contained and continues to keep residents from their homes and blanket all of southeast Georgia and northeast Florida with smoke, according to Georgia officials."

It is 12:30 in Palatka, FL on April 18th 2007 and the smoke here is pretty strong. Is this really from the Georgia fires? My eyes are itchy and my throat is a bit raw. Smells like '98 in Volusia County.
Yes, it is from the Ware County fires. I did hear this morning that there were also fires starting on the florida side of the St. Marys River which is on the FL/GA border.
Incredible!
so is that why there is 1/8 inch of ashes in jacksonville florida?
