Sunday Brunch - Brick

The Morning After (AKA yesterday) we went to Brick (3585 Saint Johns Ave.) for Sunday Brunch and it was fantastic. Some of the dishes at the table included the Caprese Eggs Benedict, Spinach and Goat Cheese Eggs Benedict, Cuban Panini, and a Caesar Salad. Every single dish got a 5 out of 5 stars. We will definitely be back to Brick for brunch.

I love The Brick! Was just there last Thursday (2/28/08), so whoever said it's closed is incorrect. Gotta love the Warm Turkey Sandwich!

Everytime we eat here, we get slow service. The food is just okay. If you want really good food, go across the street to Biscotti's. Ancho honey glazed salmon BLT or the Thai chicken salad are off the chaiiiiin! mmmmmm, hahahah.. Jon.

Overrated.

Agreed, overrated. Go across the street to Biscotti's if you're in Avondale. Phantastic!

The Brick is good for outdoor dining, or just wasting time and having drinks. The food is nothing spectacular, and the service can range from fantastic to terrible, depending on what server you get, but all in all it's a fun place. Especially on the Fri/Sat nights, when they do live jazz.

I definitely would recommend it.

For a place with such a great spot, you would think they would put together a menu that was exciting. That menu is better suited for Orange Park. Keep the turkey sandwich and get rid of everything else.

Ya, you're right about the menu. And the worst part is, their menu was great when they first opened. They have a fantastic filet carpaccio, and a variety of other higher-end items on the menu that were nice. I really liked them a lot when they opened.

Then about 2-3 years into it, everything suddenly became just a step or two above typical bar food. They took most of the good stuff off the menu, leaving only the high profit-margin crap you can get anywhere else, like burgers, fries, sandwiches, wedge salad, generic fish dishes, etc. And at the same time, their prices jumped up.

And who do they think they're fooling with that "Kobe" beef burger? BAHAHAHA. If that's Kobe beef, I will literally eat my hat. Actually, I don't wear hats, but I'd go out and buy one and eat it. You get the idea. Lol.

Anyway, the last few times I've been, dinner for two with a couple drinks, an app, and two entrees, is now a solid $80+ proposition. Still, I go for the atmosphere and the ability to sit outside. I also like their live jazz. While something of a cliche, it's still enjoyable.

I love the Brick and the bar there. The staff is great and it is one of our favorite places here in Avondale. For a place that is so bad to a number of Anonymous people, it sure was PACKED for Christmas in Avondale.

For those of us who remember it when it was partners and then when it was NOTHING for so long, we want the Brick to succeed and do well.

Get the veggie burger - it is house made and yummy. Don't forget to ask for Rhanda - she is the bomb!
