Another Magic School Bus

A Pasco County eighth-grader was arrested Tuesday for allegedly using cocaine on a school bus in front of other students.

The 14-year-old was on his way to Gulf Middle School in New Port Richey. He is charged with cocaine possession.

"The student admitted having the cocaine on the bus and provided some material that housed that cocaine and was arrested as a result of that," said Tammy Rabon, the school district's director of communications and government relations. "We're very pleased that the system we have in place works."

School administrators believe the teen got the cocaine, believed to be one-fifth of a gram, from a student supplier about a week ago. They believe that supplier also provided drugs to another Gulf Middle student a month ago. The supplier was arrested on drug possession charges after police found detailed plans to sell drugs in his wallet.

All three teens now face expulsion and time in juvenile detention. The cases remain under investigation.
