Unfortunately, by the time we arrived at the Prime Osbourne Convention Center for the Commuter Train Expo it had already ended. But here is a description of the event from The JTA Website.: Congresswoman Corrine Brown, Congressman John L. Mica, Florida Interim Secretary of Transportation Shephanie Kopelousos and Mayor John Peyton will join the Jacksonville Transportation Authority and the Florida Department of Transportation to present the latest technology in commuter rail transportation. We too are very excited to see what develops in the future for our rapidly growing city.
The event will be held outside the southeast corner of the Prime Osborn Center at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 10. A Diesel Multiple Unit (DMU) will be on-site for attendees to tour. The DMU is one of the latest technologies in commuter rail systems available to Northeast Florida. In addition to touring the DMU, attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about the Jacksonville Regional Transportation Center, JTA’s upcoming commuter rail study and future transportation issues for the seven counties of Northeast Florida.
“We are excited about the possibility to one day offer commuter rail as part of our regional transportation system,” said Jacksonville Transportation Authority Executive Director/CEO Michael J. Blaylock."
