Today is National Dont Buy Gas Day. According to Designer Journal: "this all started in April 1997, when there was a "gas out" conducted nationwide in protest of gas prices. Gasoline prices dropped 30 cents a gallon overnight." Designer Journal figures that "if all internet users did not go to the pump on May 15th, it would take $2,292,000,000.00 (that's almost 3 BILLION) out of the oil companies pockets for just one day." HOWEVER........ Snopes.com (one of our most favorite sites of ALL TIME!!!!) claims that statements like those of Designer Journal are actually FALSE. Apparently just switching the day you buy gasoline doesn't constitute a "boycott" and in the end has absolutely no effect on the oil companies. Read More Here at Snopes.
