Preservation Tap & Chophouse

Listen up everyone!!!! If you have not been to Preservation Tap & Chophouse in Avondale; we STRONGLY recommend that you try it out. We had the most fantastic meal there last night. Some of the items we ordered are:

  • Oyster Shooters with Absolut Peppar
  • Fried Green Tomatos with Goat Cheese
  • Escargot with Gorgonzola and Cabernet
  • Certified Angus Beef Tap Burger
  • Fresh Chicken with Goat Cheese and Dried Cherry Butter
  • Onion Rings with House Blue Cheese

EVERY SINGLE THING WAS AMAZING! The Editor fell in love with the Oyster Shooters, as did Robin and Mark the News Room Chief. Jacksonville Confidential will be visiting Preservation Tap & Chophouse (PT&C) many more times in the future.

Unfortunately, PT&C does not have a website, so we have taken the liberty of posting their fabulous menu below:

nGen Works is on the job!

Look for a Preservation Tap & Chophouse website towards the end of the summer!

Thanks for the great review, I'll let Drew know the web is buzzing.

Loved the atmosphere, the meals we ordered, ribeye w/shrimp & grouper catch of the day, left much to be desired... no flavor! Service was excellent but we left very disappointed. We enjoy eating a good meal and don't mind paying for it, but we walked away, feeling like we did not get our money's worth. I wanted to love the whole experience but couldn't. At this time I cannot recommend this restaurant to friends. Love MossFire Grill though.

What a great space! Congrats on the amazing interior. And the service was, for Jax, top notch. Menu, terrific and original with the sweet potato mash, corn pudding etc. However, the food lacked. Steak was dry, corn pudding, although a great idea, also dry and lacking in taste. The house salad had old mushrooms, refrigerated tomaotes, unpeeled cucs, ho-hum other stuff. The rosemary dressing - execellent and original. Get the food up to par!!!

Wow, I can not understand the "buzz" on this place. Have you been lately? The food leaves much to be desired. They need to match higher quality with a chef/cook who knows how to handle it. (For the prices you are paying). The wine list...you can go to the 8 'Til Late and find the same wines......All I hear is "they don't know how to prepare steak and the quality of the meat is substandard".....HELLO, you are a steakhouse?

Went for the first time last night with a group of twelve. Service was good, food was good, however, I do have the following comments.
1) They were out of bread for the whole time our party was there, 1.75 hours.
2) The prime rib was medium at best, I ordered medium rare.
3) The white cheddar mashed potatoes were soggy and pasty.
4) They charged 20% gratuity for our group, which I would have paid anyway as service was good, but they added the gratuity on the tax as well; a royal NO NO.
I will go back and enjoy the food again, but they should correct the gratuity issue (18% is correct and not on thetax)and ensure we can all enjoy the bread.

We've only been once. Our service was good but the food was a mixed bag. They definitely need better quality steak! There were enough good things (the lobster appetizer and the greens come to mind) that we will try it again.
