iPhone Preliminary Review

Hands down the iPhone is absolutely awesome. There are, however, a few useful tools that it is lacking.

First off, there is NO MULTIMEDIA MESSAGING (MMS). We thought this was going to pose of problem for us, but the simple fix is to make sure that all of your friends have your email address saved on their phone under your contact information and they can just send their MMS's to the email address. It achieves the same goal. On the other side of the equation, you can have your friends MMS your email....which will, in turn, give you THEIR MMS EMAIL ADDRESS. Save that on your iPhone and you and your friends will be MMS'ing as usual.

The second missing feature is the ability to zoom with the built in 2.0MP camera. Now....we have a MacBook with built in iSight and it too lacks zooming, so we can live with it.

Finally, and maybe most depressing, you cannot add any ringtones to it. No downloading real tones or making your own. What it comes with is what you have to choose from. You also cannot assign specific ringtones to different contacts or change the sounds of other functions (all email, text, and voice mail alerts are the same). Thankfully the provided ringtones are not too annoying.

The phone also does not have any games or the ability to IM. (though we think both of those will be added/resolved VERY soon)

We are still getting the hang of it and , sans the aforementioned discards, this thing is absolutely AMAZING!!!! One thing people should remember is that first and foremost the iPhone is a computer with basically a peripheral phone feature/program.
