As we told you last week, we went to Koja Sushi at the Jacksonville Landing (2 Independent Dr.) for our staff meeting. We had a wonderful experience and a great time.
Koja Sushi offers both Japanese and Korean cuisine and we had a little bit of both. Every single thing we ordered was AWESOME! For a full menu with prices Click Here.

We all started out with our Ginger Salads and Miso Soups, which were good. The Ginger Dressing was particularly delicious and some of us even turned our bowls up to drink every last drop of it.

For the main course we all either had a Bento Box or the Dol Soet Bi-bin Bap. The Bento Boxes came with assorted sushi rolls, steamed veggies, crab cakes, Asian slaw, and a fried shrimp. They were all awesome, but the most FANTASTIC meal was the Dol Soet Bi-bin Bap, just look at the pic above. Its beef with all kinds of veggies and sprouts served in a hot bowl with an egg cracked over it (which you stir in as it cooks from the heat of the bowl), it was absolutely amazing!

We want to thank our delightful waitress for putting up with us and providing quick and friendly service.

Didn't they just reopen from several critical health violations?
wow, have you folks ever had good sushi? the americanized fried and teriyaki crap is probably a crowd pleaser. this place epitomixzes jacksonville's dining scene: people say its good for some reason and know one disagrees because the restaurants are historically pedestrian
This place is gross. Really nasty. Smells like a sewer, sucky service, and grossly overpriced. I quit going there a couple years ago, and have a hard time believing they're still open.
If you want good sushi in jacksonville, there are only really 2 or 3 decent places. The two I would recommend are Mount Fuji, which despite its location in the Roosevelt strip mall, is fantastic. Sushi Rock is good as well. Go to either of those places, and you will never go back to Koja again.
Crazy Sushi is superior to any other sushi restaurant in Jacksonville, hands down.
A few cute Korean women, but expect awful service from them. The sushi quality is below average. I rate it poor in comparison to what you find at Publix. And you must know that their sushi isn't great.
Koja Sushi is hands down, the best sushi we've had since moving to Jacksonville. We are originally from Hawaii and finding good quality sushi in comparison has not been easy. The one and only place we've found, and enjoy on a regular basis, is Koja's.
In response to the other posts I see, 1) Good sushi shouldn't be cheap. If you want cheap, go to Wasabi's for an all you can eat sushi buffet. You get what you pay for. 2) The girls there are not all korean-lol. Ethnicity 101. The staff is very culturally diverse. 3) I'm sure the Landing has strict criteria for such restaurants cleanliness/sewage systems. I'd take that up with the Landing, not the restaurant specifically.
Everyone has different tastes and our taste buds may differ from yours. People often fall in love with a restaurant and continue to go there and love it (or not). For us, we love it. Make your own determination.
