Sushi House

Let's welcome sushi restaurant number 54,262,627,062,864 to the neighborhood. Joe(y) sent us over a few pics of the brand new addition to the sushi roster, Sushi House, located where that terrible Aura Thai place was at 1173 Edgewood Avenue right next door to the oh-so-pleasing 1171. As always, we wish you much luck Sushi House, but is this really the time and market to add to an already saturated niche in Riverside/Avondale/Murray Hill?

It's Riverside, and we really need a sweet vegetarian restaurant...

we're still missing a good Thai restaurant too. Too many of shushi already.

How much damn sushi can this town eat?

this place was already once a sushi restaurant, fatty tuna, why would they duplicate failure?

I agree: we need a good Thai restaurant, vegetarian restaurant or a super authentic Mexican restaurant (like Pepe's off University).
Does anyone know what is going on with the old optical place on the corner of Park and Post in Five Points? It had a sign up for awhile that said it was going to be a Japanese steakhouse, but the sign has been down for awhile.

Yeah, they're renovating that place that used to be Abernathy Opticians. I'll give you three guesses as to what it's going to be...and the first two don't count. Yup...you got it...ANOTHER SUSHI RESTAURNT! In fairness, they're supposed to be putting in a couple of hibachi tables as well, but seriously COME ON people. You can't throw a rock without a sushi restaurant already, do we really need another another another one?

Yeah that place in 5points is owned by the same peeps as sake house. They are doing the grill tables. Hopefully it is all grill tables. At least is something a bit different that just sushi.

This is the best sushi on the westside...i have tried many and this is by far the best.

From what I understand, they are planning on doing Sushi with a twist, they have decided to cook their Sushi instead of serving raw. A novel concept and one that should bode well for Riverside!

How about some Indian on the Westside? I know it would do well over here.

I love my neighborhood, but Sushi House is awful. Bad food, bad atmosphere, bad service. It's worth a trip out of The Hill to go to Sumo Sushi on Park St.

Alfred...I hate to break it to you man, but when you were bragging about the "Novel twist" of this place "cooking their sushi instead of serving it raw", I really hope you were joking. Because if all the fish is cooked then guess what...ITS NOT SUSHI! It's just cooked fish and rice.

Just ate at the Sushi House last weekend... it was by far the best sushi in the area! We had 5 rolls for $28 plus complimentary soup, crab rangoon and mussels (served bruschetta-style!). Service was great and everything was fresh and delicious. The best rolls we tried were the sweet potato tempura and the "Love" roll (spicy tuna w/tempura chips and wrapped in tuna). It definitely exceeded our expectations!
