Fireworks!!!

It seems that every single 4th of July the City of Jacksonville debates shooting off fireworks for one reason or another and, as usual, the fireworks display went off without a hitch. A beautiful display at that. Here are a few photos that we took from our prime location on the St. Johns River thanks to David and Michael Bellamy-Daly and Peter and Josef Arias-Frye.

I appreciate them trying but the show was really weak sauce this year compared to years past. I know the budget is tight and while it sucks, if things don't improve they should just go for a non-pyrotechnic celebration next year. From where we were, we could see the beaches' fireworks as well and their show was bigger and several minutes longer than ours.

Maybe open up the north and south banks and have a big party type thing with local marching bands and whatever else you can get cheaply.

the Fireworks used to be visible from Riverside/5-Points. They continue to lower the height so they are dangerously low for their size.(City is self insured anyway) You have to actually go down to the river(TRAFFIC) to see the display.many of us enjoyed staying home and watching them from second story porches but not any more. The Superbowl display was like 4 Fourths of July displays consecutively.
