Gay Pride Has Been Cancelled

We have gotten a plethora of e-mails from Jacksonville Confidential readers informing us that this years Gay Pride Festival has been CANCELLED. That means no parade, no block party, no dyke's on bikes, no gay cowboy line-dancers, NOTHING. For shame! Aren't we, the gays, supposed to be the ones with all of the expendable cash? The annual display of flamboyance sponsored by bars and liquor distillers may have been canceled but no one has canceled the Gay Pride that my partner and I have, living openly as full members of our community each and every day throughout the year. The vast majority of us have no time or interest in the Minstrel show antics gleefully highlighted by the media at each 'pride' parade. So if its all the same, we're happy to skip the blackface this year.
