New Basil Thai & Sushi in Baymeadows

One of our faithful readers from Atlantic Beach sent us an e-mail over the weekend about a brand new Basil Thai that has opened up on the Southside at Baymeadows Road and 9A, we're just gonna let you guys see the entire correspondence because we think it's rather succinct.....

"Guys, Go check this place out (Basil Thai & Sushi).....Baymeadows and 9A, incredibly good. I was impressed. then again I'm easily swayed. Basil Thai has done it again, they have opened a new restaurant and a full bar in the Baymeadows.......Their new place is just as welcoming as the first, and a whole lot larger. They have a really nice spacious lounge, (this is where we ate), they boast 7 HDTV'S (I counted five). Great happy hour 2-4-1 on all beers, wells, calls, and wines $7.00 or less (their wine list is tremendous offering 36 by the glass; lots of choices). Same great food maybe even a little better, (a whole lot cheaper).

We started off with the Seared Ahi Tuna. Nice portion of tuna dusted with sesame seeds and seared to rare, sliced thin served in a green curry sauce the sauce was cold but, against the hot tuna this was delightful. ($8.00)

My date had ordered the Mussuman Curry with Beef at a spice level 3 server said this was like the Thai grandmothers pot roast. Beef, onions, carrots, and potatoes with roasted peanuts in an orange curry sauce. spice level was a little hot but the flavors were incredible. ($14.00)

I had the Crispy Duck at a spice level 3. this was perfect. half a duck fried then simmered in a Thai spicy chili paste topped with sauteed onions, carrots, asparagus, and pea pods ($22.00). We also had a bottle of B.V. Tapestry for only ($45.00)

The presentation was nice and the service was friendly and spot on, the restaurant is beautiful. They have patio dining in a quaint little garden like atmosphere as well. These guys really know how to impress.

Our server said they have the NFL Sunday Ticket and the College Gameday with food and drink specials all day. This I am anxious foe....nice place good food affordable prices. Way to go Basil Thai."

Thanks for the awesome info! We frequent the original Basil Thai over here in San Marco and am excited that all you guys further East and South can now enjoy some delicious Thai food closer to home.

It's our first time to visit this restaurant which is just across where we live but we are not satisfied. Food is cold and the sauce for my Beef Prah Raam is lumpy. We've been to different Thai Restaurant in town, but this is worst one. I'm not recommending to my friends!
