Jacksonville Confidential's own Jason has been selected to be on a panel of four judges for Karaoke Rob's American Idol Contest at the Metro Entertainment Complex every Tuesday night at 10:30 for the next few weeks. This week kicked off the event with a whopping 17 contestants. The Prizes GRAND PRIZE is $1,000 to the last singer standing and each weeks winner will receive a bar tab of of $25. The person voted off each week will get a special consolation prize. The four judges are Metro's very own Blossom O'Toole (the oldest diva in drag), Wendi (last years $1000 contest winner), Jason (Jacksonville Confidential's very own), and Robert (known as the "unknown judge" because he refuses to be photographed). The Rules
1. The contest will feature at least 10 contestants (min of 9 weeks).
2. Every contestant MUST be in attendance every Tuesday. If they don’t show up for a show, they will forfeit their spot and will be the contestant eliminated that night. It would not be fair to allow someone to continue after missing a day when the other contestants have shown up every week.
3. Each contestant will be given a different genre every week (for example one week may be country and the next may be rock.) The contestants will be told at least a week in advance and given at least a week’s notice so they can practice their song for that genre. Contestants must sing from an instrumental track (no singing with a regular cd).
4. Contestants will be judged in two ways. One will be by the audience vote. The audience will be given a ballot at the beginning of the show. In order to receive a ballot, audience members MUST be in attendance at the BEGINNING of the show and have seen every contestant in order to participate in voting. After all of the contestants have performed, audience members will write down the name of the contestant they liked LEAST. The second form of voting is by judges. There will be at least three judges. Whomever the judges pick as best of night will be given immunity and can’t be voted off. Whomever the audience gives the most votes to will be eliminated. If the person voted off by the audience and the judges “pick” as “best of the night” are the same, the person with the next largest amount of votes from the audience will be the one eliminated.
5. We will begin with at least 10 contestants and eliminate till there are only three contestants. The three contestants will be in the final round and have to perform two songs. One song must be fast and one slow. Both will be of their choosing.
6. The final show will be judged by a point system from both the judges and the audience. The scores from both will be combined for a total score. All votes will be for the BEST of the night as opposed to voting for LEAST liked.

And here are the 17 contestants....

Nolan was the proud recipient of this past weeks winning prize of a $25 bar tab and no one was voted off just to mix things up....but do expect the possibility of two singers being booted this coming week. This coming weeks' theme....DANCE! We'll let you know who wins and who loses after Tuesday nights' round 2 of the competition.
