Burn in Hell

Over the weekend some effin Riverside firebugs decided to try and torch two of our neighborhood churches, one of which is owned by Jacksonville Confidential's own Julio (the one at 702 Margaret Street). Luckily the fires didn't escalate and cause too much damage before the JFRD was able to extinguish the flames. Here's a tidbit on the other fire from RAP...

"An attempt was made to set fire to the Riverside Primitive Baptist Church. Palm fronds were lighted and pushed under the building through a crawl space access panel. The fire burned slowly in the joists under the church and was discovered when church members arrived Sunday morning and found the church filled with smoke. Jacksonville Fire & Rescue extinguished the fire without incident. According to a Neighborhood Watch participant, the fire investigator reported that no accelerants were used. The extent of the damage has not yet been determined."

Someone's going to hell....

Since when are churches owned by individuals?

When a vacant church is put up for sale, it can be bought by an individual. Its not that complicated.

Bums should not be allowed to drink fortified alcoholic beverages and smoke at the same time.

That's horrible business. Seems like it be more profitable to buy the church and turn it into a restaurant or super chic night club.

OK mister business man. This is riverside, with other churches 1 block away you cannot get a beer/wine or a liquor license. Also the location of the church on a secluded corner, tucked away in Riverside would not be conducive to a successful restaurant. Any more bright ideas?

It looks like someone tried to turn it into a super chic bbq at 3AM.

Don't break the news to Fu Hao Bistro that they can't get a beer/wine license since they're a block away from Riverside Presbyterian.
