Lubi’s hot subs restaurant is a long time Jacksonville staple. There are 4 locations in town, 3 on the Southside and 1 at the Beach. They offer the standard sandwich shop fair like Tabouli and Camel Riders, Ham and Cheese Sandwiches, and Salads but what they are most known for is their signature hot sub called the “Lubi”. The original “Famous Lubi” has lean ground sirloin, American cheese, and onions, all steamed in a sub roll and it’s definitely a knife and fork sandwich. Jason popped in to the Mandarin location on Sunbeam Road (3930 Sunbeam Road) last night for the first time in probably 15 years and ordered a Mozzarella Lubi, which is the Famous Lubi topped with sour cream, mozzarella cheese and marinara sauce. Sure, it looks pretty disgusting in the picture below but trust us, the hot subs are FANTASTIC. The restaurant is also known for it’s fresh squeezed Cherry Limeades, a delicious drink to wash down that sub. If you’re a Jacksonville native you’ve probably had one at some point in your life, if you haven’t then we suggest you go out and get one soon. You won’t be disappointed, but you might be in the bathroom for a while the next day. There’s also a 20% Off Coupon available online if we have to give you even more incentive to try it out.

They are also famous for the fact that they (or they used to) microwave foil. We used to go back in high school to the university blvd location just to see if a microwave was going to catch fire that day.
