Crazy Egg is OPEN - Updated Menus

Crazy Egg (954 Edgewood Avenue South) finally opened its doors to the public this week after much anticipation. Robyn and Joe(y) popped in to Murray Hill’s newest eatery for breakfast and reported back some very good findings. They both had the veggie omelet and thoroughly enjoyed it. The total renovation of the former greasy spoon known as Dave’s Diner (yuck, and good riddance) is a very welcomed change and we already foresee a successful future for the restaurant. Here’s a quick glance at the new interior and the menu (sorry for the crappy quality but our scanner blew up during last weeks storms). Enjoy.

*UPDATE: We have a good quality menu thanks to JC reader Richard.

I love your blog! I linked the Crazy Eggs post on my Cheap Eats Examiner article site if that's okay.

I "ate" there this morning... Nothing to write home about... actually maybe the fact that my stuffed french toast was completely undercooked and their" perfect combo" was FAR from perfect. Very slow staff. And no they weren't packed when we got there at 8am. At about the hour mark we paid for the food we were unable to eat and regretted not going to the Metro Diner instead. When the manager asked my husband how the food was (after we had already sent back the french toast and didn't receive a replacement... and yes I pointed out to the server that it was raw) my husband responded with inedible to which the manager asked if we'd like it boxed up to go? Um, why so we can torture someone else with it? Very sad. I was hoping the place to be awesome. FAIL!

Went for breakfast this morning and it was pretty good. They were busy @ 10:45 and when we left and hour or so later, they still had some people waiting. We weren't in a hurry so the wait didn't bother us. Friendly, good service and good food at reasonable prices. I'll be going back!

MAJOR FAIL! It wasn't the "the new air conditioner will be in Monday" (why didn't they just delay opening until it was installed?)...or the fact that they opened on a Thursday, and were COMPLETELY unprepared for a weekend crowd (why not open on a Monday...AFTER the the A/C is in...and give yourself 5 days to work out the kinks before a weekend?...or the fact that the wait staff seems totally untrained (the waitress just came to the table and stood there, with her order pad and looked at us. No "Are you ready to order?" No "Today's special is....." Just a silent stare...or even that they took at least 5 trays of food to the wrong tables....It's the fact that the kitchen is understaffed and the dining area is overstaffed. I understand why they are open for "breakfast, brunch, and lunch"...if you order breakfast, you get in in time for lunch.

I have been twice and both times were not FANTSATIC, but they were not horrible either.

Service has been great and yes they have forgotten a few things here and there, but I know that opening a business, especially a restaurant is a HUGE undertaking and I perfer to give these guys a bit of a break.

The prices are reasonable, the service is super friendly and I have hopes that once the kinks are worked out, they will be ontrack.

I welcome to addition to Murray Hill and am estatic that they are only a few blocks away. We need more small diners like this in the area. I think that Matt is doing a GREAT job and I wish him much success.

I ate there for the first time this past Saturday. Must admit I was a bit reluctant to go, having grown up in the Murray Hill area, I know what a nasty place this restaurant has been in the past and was certainly one I never intended to visit again! I was very pleasantly surprised. The renovations are great, we were greeted at the door by a very pleasant hostess that sat us immediately, service was great, food was wonderful and I would very highly reccomend (as I already have) this place to others!

Just another example of a menu and logo design gone horribly wrong.

I was there Sunday for breakfast and loved it. Love the teeny muffins that you get before the meal, loved my perfect combo, loved the hash brown casserole, loved our attentive waitress.

Looking forward to going back.
