Cafe 331 - Review
As you guys already know, we tried out Cafe 331 (331 W Forsyth St.) Wednesday night before the ArtWalk and we had a wonderful time. First of all, we must say that we were really mesmerized when we walked into the place. It was freaking HUGE!!!!

We chugged a few more beers and then decided to order some sandwiches, so we went inside and placed our orders (you can either order at the deli counter or with the bartender).
Jason and Emily both had the BLT.

Robin had the Patty Melt.

He said it was awesome (and it looked it, cheese oozing out of the grilled bread....) and he finished every last crumb.
Mark had the Grilled Ham & Cheese

Joe(y) had the Turkey Club.

As you guys know, Joe(y) is a man of few words and just said that it was "good". It was pretty much your basic club, so its pretty hard to really mess one up.
Patrick had the Fish & Chips.

Last, but not least, Junior Staff Member PJ had some Onion Rings...

Unlike everything else, which was amazing, PJ said that the onion rings, "taste like sh*t!"...but he's a kid so who really cared what the eff he thought about them anyway. We all had a taste and thought they were just fine.
Owners Milton and Judith were very gracious hosts and took care of everything we needed. Milton also informed us that they are going to try out a Mediterranean night sometime in the future featuring Greek/Arabic foods and music. We will definitely check that out.
HOPA!!!! At the end of our meal Milton bought us all a round of Ouzo and we did a traditional Greek toast.

Cafe 331 Menu
We called over to Cafe 331 and had Judith (one of the owners) fax us over a menu so we could get all prepped for tonights Staff Meeting/ArtWalk. She preemptively warned us that her menus weren't the best looking and assured us that they are in the process of updating their menu and will have new ones out real soon. Looking at the selection and prices, I don't think we really care about the quality of the menu graphics, etc. The items sound pretty tasty and the prices are super-inexpensive. We'll have a full review for you guys sometime tomorrow, but in the meantime check out the Cafe 331 menu.

Changes at the ArtWalk?
Everyone knows about the First Wednesday ArtWalks that the City has been doing for quite sometime now, right? Well, we are hearing talk of a BIG CHANGE at the ArtWalk on March 5th. Tony Allegretti didn't say much more than "save the date", but he's gotten us all curious and stuff.
Does anybody have any more information on this event? Please let us know, cause we wish ArtWalk was EVERY day!!!

Thanks to JaxBlaspheme for alerting us of our error.

ArtWalk - Tonight
Happy New Year Everyone! Tonight is the first ArtWalk of the year and its going to be a chilly one. We are gonna be out, but suspect that it will be a low-key evening. In related news, the Art Center Cooperative of Jacksonville (in the Carling building) has a new website. Click Here to check it out.

Confessions
Our favorite art installation at last nights ArtWalk was called "Confessions" and it was set up on the second floor of the old Main Library. It was an interactive piece inviting all of the patrons to write down a confession and then post it on a window for all to see. Every staff member participated, although some got a little too carried away with the "theme" that emerged (you will see what we're talking about in the pics below). Its always nice when we can actually be part of the process.

Staff Meeting & Art Walk Pics
We started our evening at Nicky G's, our second ArtWalk in a row, and have to say that it was not the best experience. Last ArtWalk we started out at the pizza place and had a GREAT time. Now Nicky G's has decided to scale down their menu for the ArtWalk; only offering pizza and appetizers. That was fine...we all wanted pizza anyway, HOWEVER....you couldn't order a slice of any topping you want, if you wanted, say, the Antipasto pizza, you would have to order the whole pie. In addition, the wait time was super-crazy-ridiculously long. We were there for over 2 hours! Needless to say, we will not be back to Nicky G's during an ArtWalk, we do stand by our original review of the place and would happily eat there on any other day. After the pretty horrendous experience at dinner we did end up having a fantastic time at the ArtWalk. You can tell by the pictures.....

Chamblin's Uptown
We forgot to mention this yesterday, but if you were perusing through our Artwalk pictures you may have noticed that there will soon be a new addition to Downtown Jacksonville. Chamblin's Bookmine (absolutely the BEST used bookstore in town) is opening up another store Downtown called Chamblin's Uptown. We aren't sure of the actual opening date, but as soon as we find out...we'll let you know. Yet another giant step for the City.

ArtWalk - The Pics
We didn't take as many pictures at last nights First Wednesday ArtWalk as we usually do, mainly because it was quite chilly and we were all keeping one hand in our pockets and the other was holding a beer (or spirit of some sort). Enjoy the ones we did take...

Um, What?
Okay, so who's the effin retard that decided to ban the Adams Street convenience store from allowing brown paper bags for beers during the ArtWalk (and who knows when else) and instead is forcing plastic bags for carryout to Better Jacksonville. Um...What? Really? We are dumbfounded. The purveyor of the store was too. We need to get down to the bottom of this. Are all of our fretted request at Publix for paper bags thwarted? All we need is homeless people carrying around a plastic bag with 1 Colt 45 in it and then trashing Jacksonville even more. Oh, and by the way.....the paper bags hold like 4 times as more as each plastic bag. Go green peeps!Yes, haven't you noticed that if you request paper instead of plastic that everyone from the retarded bagger to the customers behind you sigh and act like its the end of the world? They even have the paper bags hidden so that when you request them it requires the bagger to totally reformat the process (maybe to make it more grandeur) requiring even more time, and more spectacle to get your groceries packaged.
